Rafters Look to Bounce Back and Even Series with Mallards

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. - The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (0-1) will try to earn a series split with the Madison Mallards (1-0) tonight following a 10-2 defeat Tuesday evening. The Mallards scored four runs on four hits in the first inning but were held in check by the Rafters' bullpen over the next four frames. Madison blew it open scoring six runs between the sixth and eighth innings. The Rafters scored two runs on six hits after being no hit through 5.2 innings by Mallards' starter Dalton Morrow.

The loss last night snapped a five-game winning streak for the Rafters vs. the Mallards that dated back to June 30th of last season. The all-time series against Madison currently stands at 31-40.

Starting today for Wisconsin Rapids is right-handed pitcher Trayson Kubo from Stephen F. Austin. Kubo made 24 appearances and started three games for the Lumberjacks in his junior season. The junior ended this spring season with a 0-2 record and 5.52 ERA while striking out 34. The Mallards will counter with freshman Dalton Wiggins from Marietta College. Wiggins posted a 2-1 record across 14 appearances and eight starts with a 3.40 ERA this spring.

First pitch is slated for 6:05 pm at Warner Park.
