May 30, 2018 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Bismarck Larks News Release
BISMARCK, ND - Come prepared to cheer, but also pack your tissues. Thursday, May 31st promises to be an exciting and emotional night with the return of Sanford Health's Home Run for Life.
Fans will also be treated to our first inspiring survival story as we celebrate Sanford Health patient, Geoff Mbaka's recovery. Last September, Geoff was running errands with his one-year-old daughter when he suffered a significant stroke. Geoff spent seven months battling subsequent seizures, a lasting effect of the stroke, leading to paralysis in the left side of his body.
Thanks to help of his mother and the medical care he received at Sanford Health, Geoff is on his way to recovery as he continues physical therapy and participates in a local Sanford Health support group that connects him with other stroke patients. Help us cheer Geoff on in his Sanford Health Home Run for Life as he runs the bases to celebrate his brave battle!
Thursday's game is presented by Blarney Stone Pub. Educators and staff from the Bismarck Community School District will gather at the game to honor Lignite Energy Council's Bismarck Teacher of the Year, Tana Banker. Banker was selected from hundreds of applicants based on a heartfelt letter from her second-grade student, Zoha. (Hear Zoha read her essay here.)
The Central Dakota Children's Choir will serenade the crowd with a special baseball themed rendition of the National Anthem. The first 300 fans through the park will receive light-up Fetzer Electric Thunderstix. (Hear the crew practicing here.) Scheels 7-Game Pack Holder Plan C holders will receive a Larks water bottle.
Don't miss a night of baseball and brave battles! There are just 30 bleacher tickets left for our first Thursday game of the season. Join us as the Larks battle the Duluth Huskies at 7:05pm and DISCOVER THE FUN. Visit larkstickets.com or call 701-557-7600 to purchase tickets at Bismarck Municipal Ballpark, Home of Dakota Community Bank and Trust Field.
