
Dock Spiders Spoil Woodchucks Home Opener with 11-3 Victory

Fond du Lac Dock Spiders News Release
Wausau, WI- The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (1-0) opened the 2018 season with a 11-3 triumphant victory over the Wisconsin Woodchucks (0-1).
A back and forth contest at the start, the Woodchucks got on the board first in the bottom of the 5th to take a 1-0 to lead into the after a 1-4 putout.
On a fielder's choice call in the 6th the Dock Spiders Thomas Luevano (Creighton) and Troy Black (Kentucky) would each earn runs to take a 2-1 lead. Dayton Provost (Oklahoma State) would be credited with 2 RBI's on the play. Wisconsin would answer right back with 2 runs on 2 hits in the 6th to take a 3-2 lead.
Three errors in the 7th allowed the Dock Spiders to pull ahead 6-3 to gain their first lead of the contest.
From the 7th inning until the final pitch Fond du Lac would never look back.
For the second straight season Andrew Bullock (Western Carolina) crushed a grand slam against the Woodchucks at Athletic Park. This time it came in the 8th where the Dock Spiders registered 5 more runs to take a 11-3 lead over Wisconsin. Bullock finished the night with 2 hits, 6 RBI's, and 1 run.
Perhaps the most significant piece of the Dock Spiders victory came from the bullpen. Jacob Voss (Creighton) came in relief for Starter, Mitch Ragan (Creighton) in the 5th and struck out 8/13 batters he faced. Voss closed out the game in the bottom of the 9th striking out the last 3 batters that came his way.
Fond du Lac will be back at Athletic Park tomorrow to face off against the Woodchucks at 6:35 PM.
