Wisconsin Rapids Rafters News Release
Wisconsin Rapids, WI - July 19th, 2012 - The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (6-9, 22-27 overall) won the final game against Green Bay this season, holding on for an 8-6 victory against the Bullfrogs (5-9, 27-22 overall) on Thursday night. On Superhero Night at Witter field, the Rafters sent the fourth biggest crowd of the season, 1,632 fans, home happy on the final home game before next week's All-Star break.
Ronnie Muck (SO, Univ. of Illinois) tossed five good innings for the Rafters. On a night with just four usual relievers and a pair of emergency arms in the bullpen, Muck allowed three runs in five innings. He pitched with a lead most of the game, as the Rafters jumped out to a four-run lead off of Parker Schrage. Muck allowed back-to-back homers to Justin Seager and Ransom LaLonde; they lead off the fourth, however, so were only solo shots and cut the lead only in half at 4-2.
When he left after five, the Rafters led 6-3, getting two in fourth on the first double of the year from Jordan Dreiling (JR, Univ. of Kansas). Wisconsin Rapids added one more on a solo blast from Josh Cyr (JR, Univ. of North Alabama) in the sixth, his third home run of the year.
Cam Seidl (JR, UW-Stevens Point) pitched a clean sixth but ran into trouble in the seventh. He walked two and hit a batter to load the bases. Skyler Debilzen (JR, UW-La Crosse) came on for the second straight night and allowed inherited runners to score. All three came home on a fielder's choice and a two-run single from Jason McMurray to make it a one-run deficit.
Seth Fuller (FR, Black Hawk College) got the final out of the seventh, with two in scoring position to end the seventh inning threat. He got the next six outs as well to nail down a seven-out save, his eighth save of the season.
The win was the first for the Rafters against Green Bay at home; they were 0-4 at Witter Field against the Bullfrogs going into the contest.
The Rafters travel to the Lumberyard to take on the La Crosse Loggers (6-8, 32-17 overall) for three straight before the All-Star break next Monday through Wednesday. Tommy Organ (SO, Univ. of North Florida) makes the second consecutive Rafters' spot start, coming out of the bullpen to take on the Loggers.
