Battle Creek Battle Jacks News Release
BATTLE CREEK, MI - The Madison Mallards scored 5 runs in the top of the 8th inning en route to a 8-3 victory over the Bombers Friday night at C.O. Brown Stadium.
The Mallards scored in the 1st inning on an RBI groundout by Tyler Marincov. They then added another single run in the 5th and 6th innings off of starting pitcher Cole Swanson. Battle Creek answered those runs with two of their own with an RBI groundout by Casey Yocum in the 5th, and an RBI single by Conor Costello in the 6th.
The difference in the game was in the top of the 8th inning. Relief pitcher Ethan Bramschreiber struggled with his control, and Derek Fisher blasted a 3-run homer to bust the game wide open. They scored five runs in that inning, and the bullpen held off the Bomber offense the rest of the way.
Game 2 of this series is tomorrow night. Dan Tyson will be the starting pitcher for the Bombers; first pitch is at 7:05 ET.
