Northwoods League ERA leader Zak Hermans allowed four earned runs in five innings of work, and the Bullfrogs were defeated by the Lakeshore Chinooks 4-1 at Joannes Stadium on Friday.

The Chinooks took an early lead with back to back extra base hits to lead off the game. Charlie Markson tripled to right and then scored on Forrest Chadwick's double to put Lakeshore in front 1-0.

Hermans set down the side in order in the second and the third, but ran into trouble again when Lakeshore extended its lead to 4-0 in the fourth. After back to back hits to lead off the frame, Bre Kimbell and Eric Aguilera scored on a Ryan Krill double. Krill later scored when Tyler Kamps singled through the right side.

The Bullfrogs cut into the Lakeshore lead in the fifth when Chris Hoo hit his first home run of the 2012 season. It was a solo shot to left field. The Chinooks led 4-1 through five.

Green Bay's Dylan Mendoza pitched four scoreless innings in relief of Hermans to keep the Chinooks at four runs, but got no help from the Bullfrogs' offense to aid a comeback effort.

Green Bay only brought 32 batters to the plate all night, just five over the minimum. The Bullfrogs brought four batters to the plate in five innings and were retired in order in the other four.

Hermans (3-2) took the loss. The win went to Nick Soldano (4-3).

The Bullfrogs are now 5-10. The Chinooks improved to 8-7 with the victory.

The Bullfrogs will take on the Chinooks in game two of a three game series Saturday at Joannes Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
