Rafters Aim to Bounce Back against Bombers

Battle Creek, Mich- In a game where the Rafters had more hits and played cleaner defensively, the Battle Creek Bombers still found a way to secure a 5-4 win last night. The Rafters lost their first game in almost a week when they fell to the Bombers. The Rafters had their chances on Thursday night, but Battle Creek found a way to snap their four game losing streak. Wisconsin Rapids enters the game tonight 4-4 in the 2nd half while the Bombers are 2-8 since the start of July.

The 2014 Northwoods League All-Star Jon Malmin (Texas) will make his third start of the summer tonight. He has been working out of the bullpen over the last couple of weeks. In his four appearances from the Rafters bullpen, Malmin threw seven scoreless innings. Malmin made his first start of 2015 against the Bombers at Witter Field. He went three innings in a game the Rafters went on to win 7-6 on a walk-off single from Zack Domingues (Long Beach State). Min Hsia (Taiwan) will be on the bump today for Battle Creek. The Bombers right hander is 2-3 with a 2.93 ERA in 10 appearances this season.

The Rafters head to Kalamazoo tomorrow for a weekend series. First pitch for tonight's game will be at 6:05 PM C.S.T.. The Rafters will return to Witter Field July 14th when they will face off against the Madison Mallards.
