Alexandria Blue Anchors News Release


Waterloo, Iowa - The Alexandria Blue Anchors defeated the Waterloo Bucks Friday night at Riverfront Stadium by a score of 3-0. The Anchors are now 6-4 in the second half an d18-27 on the season.

The game was scoreless going into the top of the fifth. Luke Petterson doubled with one out and came in to score on a two-out base hit from Drew Fearing giving Alexandria 1-0 lead.

The Blue Anchors added some insurance runs in the seventh. Ben Allen and Petterson singled to start the inning and Anthony Marks followed with the third-straight hit to score Allen. Fearing walked to load the bases and Petterson came in on a groundout giving the final score of 3-0 Blue Anchors.

Tom Watson (2-2) crafted his way to the win. He pitched seven shutout innings allowing just seven base runners and striking out a batter. Eric White collected his second save of the season throwing two perfect innings and punching out three.

Minnesota Baseball Academy Player of the Game - Tom Watson (SP) - It's hard to win when a team can't score and Watson made his best start of the season. The lefty, who is committed to the University of Florida next season, lowered his ERA to 4.32.
