RHP Ryan Baerlocher (0-1 3.89) vs. RHP Mike MacDonald (2-3 4.44)

TONIGHT'S GAME: The first in a four-game series and the first of eight meetings, the first of four at Alliance Bank Stadium. Richmond was 3-5 vs. Syracuse last season, 1-3 on the road. The 34th of 46 games vs. the North Division and the 18th of 22 on the road. Richmond is 17-16 vs. the North, 11-6 on the road. The fifth of an eight-game road trip (Richmond is 2-2). Richmond is in first place in the South Division by five and a half games over Durham.

YESTERDAY'S GAME: The Braves beat the Pawtucket Red Sox 3-1 Sunday at McCoy Stadium. Kevin Barry worked seven scoreless innings to lead the Braves to the win, giving them a split of the four game set with the Red Sox. The Braves snapped a scoreless tie in the seventh inning thanks to three walks and a single. Wes Timmons drew a walk that knocked in a run and gave Richmond a 1-0 lead. The Braves stretched that advantage in the eighth with a pair of runs. Carlos Mendez singled one home and came in to score on a Doug Clark double. The Sox ended a 20 inning run stretch in the eight on a home run by Alex Prieto. Barry earned the win. Manny Acosta notched a save. Abe Alvarez took the loss. Brayan Pena had two hits for the Braves. Michael Tucker had two hits for the Sox.

THE GOOD HANDS PEOPLE: The Braves have now played a season-high seven consecutive errorless games. The Braves have stretched their streak of errorless innings to a season-high 62. They have committed just one error in their last 11 games. Over that span they have turned nine double plays, racked up four outfield assists, thrown out seven runners trying to steal, and picked two runners off. Martin Prado has not committed an error in 205 chances at second base this season. Braves outfielders have 18 assists. Richmond had 21 outfield assists all of last season. Three Braves (T.J. Bohn with six, Doug Clark, and Gregor Blanco with four each) are among the 16 IL outfielders with four or more assists this season).

DEALING: Richmond pitchers have allowed just one run in their last 21 innings. The Braves lead the IL in ERA (3.18, more than four-tenths of a run per game better than second place Durham), most shutouts (nine), and fewest home runs allowed (38). Braves relievers are 18 for 22 in save chances, but all four "blown saves" came in the sixth inning. Richmond is 32-0 when leading after seven innings. Eight different Braves pitchers have earned saves in 2007.

MOWING THEM DOWN: Richmond catchers lead the league with a .454 caught-stealing percentage. Corky Miller, Iker Franco and Brayan Pena have combined to gun down 44 of 97 opponents trying to steal. Miller leads the league, cutting down 27 of 56 (.482) attempted steals. Franco is 15 for 30 (.500) but doesn't qualify due to an insufficient number of games played.

ROAD WARRIORS: The Braves have the best road record in the IL (22- 13 .629) and a better record on the road than at home (17-15 .531). They are one of only two clubs in the league with more wins on the road than at home and the only team in the IL with a better record on the road than at home.

STREAKERS: Brayan Pena has three straight multiple hit games (7- 12 .583). Over the last 12 games he has improved his batting average from .233 to .311 by going 20-46 (.435). Martin Prado has hits in five straight games (6-20 .300). Carlos Mendez has hits in four straight games (5-16 .313).
