Biloxi Shuckers News Release
BILOXI, MS - Between five shutout innings from Carlos Rodriguez and scoreless appearances from Ryan Brady and Cam Robinson, the Biloxi Shuckers (40-43, 6-8) earned a 1-0 win over the Rocket City Trash Pandas (38-44, 7-6) at MGM Park on Saturday night. The shutout was Biloxi's eighth in 2023.
The Shuckers got their only run in the bottom of the first inning when Jeferson Quero smashed his 13th home run of the year, a 412-foot blast to left, giving Biloxi a 1-0 lead.
Carlos Rodriguez then dazzled on the mound. After he retired the first six in order, he worked around a walk in the third with two strikeouts. In the fourth, he worked out of two runners in scoring position with two more strikeouts. Then, he danced out of a bases-loaded jam with a fielder's choice and a strikeout, extending his run to four runs allowed over his last five starts and 28.2 innings, a 1.26 ERA.
In the sixth, Ryan Brady relieved Rodriguez and worked through three scoreless innings, his longest appearance in Double-A. Cam Robinson then threw a scoreless ninth after a one-out walk for his sixth save of the year.
Rodriguez (5-3) earned the win for Biloxi while Trash Pandas' starter Victor Mederos (3-6) took the loss for Rocket City despite allowing one run over six innings.
The Shuckers are set to wrap up their three-game homestand on Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 5:05 p.m.
MGM Park will welcome Cody and JJ from CoComelon for a character appearance. The characters will be available for pictures in front of the Shuckers Shop throughout the game. Groups of four or more can also purchase a Fun Day Pack for $19 per person, including four reserved level tickets, hot dogs, chips and a drink. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for pregame player autographs and enjoy a postgame catch on the field.
