Bakersfield Condors News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif., - "The most damaging phrase in the English language is ‘It's always been done that way.'" - Rear Admiral Grace Hopper

Condors forward Justin Quenneville is looking to do things a bit differently when he returns from the injured reserve. That includes the possibility of changing his uniform number.

"I've had the number six for a few years, but I've thought about going a different route," said Quenneville, who is recuperating from a broken collarbone suffered against Alaska on October 29th in only his third game with the Condors. "Recovering has been like starting all over, and a new number could be a part of that."

Quenneville and the Condors are asking fans to vote on which number Justin should don when he returns to the line-up.

"The fans in Bakersfield have been very supportive during my injury," said the 5-foot-11 Montreal native. "Wearing a number of their choice is a way for me to show my appreciation."

There are some restrictions that were considered in Justin's final choices. Immediately off limits were the numbers worn by any current member of the Condors. In addition numbers 16, 26 and 74 have all been retired by the team. And certain numbers such as 99 and 66 are assumed untouchable by pro players as the numbers worn only by Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux.

The four final options selected by Justin are:

#19 - The sum of the two numbers Justin has worn during his career, #6 and #13.

#61 - Justin's current #6, with a #1 tagged onto the end (ala Rick Nash of Columbus)

#60 - Justin's current #6, with a #0 tagged onto the end

#6 - Stay with the current number

Fans can vote for their choice via web poll, located at the bottom of the team's home page at www.bake rsfieldcondors.com, through Monday, December 19th. The winning number will be announced prior to Justin's return to the ice.

On Monday, December 26th, the Condors return home to take on the Las Vegas Wranglers. All fans in attendance will receive a free Condors holiday poster courtesy of UPN-45 and Rio Bravo Country Club. The team will also celebrate the Canadian tradition of Boxing Day, and fans are invited to box up their older gifts for donation to Goodwill Industries. The 26th also marks the second Condors Kids Club game of the season. Members of the Kids Club will receive free admission to the game when presenting their membership card to the box office prior to the game.

To bring out a group of 20 or more fans contact the Condors office at 324-PUCK (7825) for special pricing.
