Johner's hat trick powers Everblades past Lyns

Dustin Johner's first period hat trick proved to be the opening offensive salvo for the Florida Everblades in a 7-1 win over the Augusta Lynx on Wednesday night.

Johner recorded his first tally of the night just 50 seconds into the opening frame from Ernie Hartlieb to make it 1-0 Everblades (14-6-0). Dan Sullivan came back for the Lynx (10-12-2), making a key play at the blue line before scoring on his own rebound later in the shift to tie the game at 1-1 with assists from Nicolas Corbeil and Joel Stepp.

Back came Johner with two more markers in the period at 14:19 and 19:42, staking the Everblades to a 3-1 lead by the first intermission.

Florida furthered their lead in the second period thanks to goals from Chris Lee and Paul Cabana to head out ahead 5-1 after 40 minutes of play.

The Everblades rounded out the scoring in the contest with a pair of third period power play goals from Vince Bellissimo and Daniel Sisca to wrap up the win.

Craig Kowalski made 33 saves en route to the win while Mike Wall took the loss with 15 stops and Jason Wolfe surrendered three goals on 14 shots in relief. Florida finished 2-for-7 on the power play while the Lynx went 0-for-4.

Augusta is back in action on Friday night against the Stingrays in South Carolina, with the puck drop slated for 7:05 pm. The Lynx will return home following the game to take on the Charlotte Checkers at 7:05 pm, with Santa Claus coming to town!
