Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release

WINNIPEG, MB – Brendan Taman has done it again.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers general manager & vice-president of football operations has acquired another highly sought CFL player, in this case, quarterback Kevin Glenn.

Taman – who signed wide receiver Kamau Peterson three weeks ago – today got Glenn in a trade with the Toronto Argonauts less than an hour after he had been traded to the Boatmen by the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The Bombers got Glenn for future considerations.

Glenn (5-10, 189, Illinois State '00, DOB: June 12, 1979 in Detroit, MI) is only 24 years old, yet he has three years of CFL experience under his belt. His ability to both pass and run with the football makes him an ideal CFL-styled quarterback.

"Kevin Glenn is one of the best young, up-and-coming quarterbacks in the league and he has done very well when he's been given the opportunity to play," said Taman. "Anytime you have a chance to upgrade your quarterback position, you have to take a serious look it. We expect Kevin to be a very important component to our quarterbacking corps."

Glenn has played in 47 regular-season games and three playoff contests for his CFL career. He has completed 170-of-322 pass attempts (52.8%) for 2,223 yards, 13 touchdowns and nine interceptions. That gives Glenn a 76.7 passer efficiency rating for his CFL career. He has also rushed 62 times for 283 yards (4.6-yards per carry) and three touchdowns.

Glenn originally signed with the Riders June 8, 2001. He appeared in 18 regular-season games for the Green Guys in 2001. He started six games that year.

Glenn completed 70-of-154 pass attempts (45.5%) for 938 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions. He recorded 28 carries for 152 yards (5.4-yard average) and two touchdowns.

THE COLLEGE YEARS – ILLINOIS STATE REDBIRDS

Glenn played four years of college football for Illinois State. Setting 25 school records with the Redbirds, Glenn completed 645-of-1,119 pass attempts (57.6%) for 8,032 yards and 61 touchdowns. He also rushed 247 times for 490 yards and eight scores.

Glenn led Illinois State to its first playoff appearance and its first Gateway Football Conference Championship. Along the way, he earned spots on the Gateway Conference's Honorable Mention All-Star Team (twice) and All-Newcomer Team.

He led the conference in passing yards per game, passer efficiency rating and total offence in 1998. His highlights included a span of 101 passes without an interception.
