The Somerset Patriots were shut out by the Altoona Curve by a score of 3-0 on Wednesday night at PNG Field in Altoona, PA.

The loss drops the Patriots to 0-4 on Wednesdays this season, the only day of the week where they have yet to win a game. It also signals the third time this season the Patriots have been shut out this season. At two hours and two minutes, the game was the Patriots' shortest contest of the season.

RHP Trystan Vrieling (6.0 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K) was tagged with his third straight losing decision, despite posting his third quality start out of six appearances this season.

SS Benjamin Cowles (2-for-3, BB) reached base three times, accounting for two of Somerset's three hits in the game.

Cowles extended his team-leading batting average to .337, which ranks second in the Eastern League. His team-leading .414 OBP ranks sixth in the league.

Cowles also leads the league with 57 total bases and 15 extra-base hits, while tying for the league lead with 34 hits and 10 doubles.
