Quad City's Defuses Fuel 4-1

Indy Fuel News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - Despite raining 40 shots on goal, including a season-best 19 in the third period, the Indy Fuel (2-5-1-0) saw their winless streak reach six consecutive games as they bowed to the visiting Quad City Mallards (5-3-0-0) 4-1 Saturday night at Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
It was a Quad City three-goal third period uprising that shattered a 1-1 deadlock which the Fuel had created on a Kevin Lynch late second period PPG at the 19:52 mark. Lynch's strike was his second of the campaign with both registered in his club's last two outings on home ice.
Mallards defenseman Alex Gudbranson emerged as a rather improbable scoring hero for the victors as his screen shot from right point midway through the third period at the 10:00 mark severed the 1-1 tie and triggered the "Greenheads" three-goal torrent. Rookie center Alex Petan notched a pair of goals for the Quad Citians while Chris Francis authored an ENG to cement the success for the Mallards.
The victory was one of historical proportion for Quad City as it represented their first-ever victory in the Indiana State capital. It also was their 5th victory in the last 6-starts after opening the season with two consecutive defeats.
As for the Fuel, they remain winless in four decisions thus far this season against their own Central Division with the third period becoming their undoing, having been out-goaled in that fateful final frame, 13-5.
Next up for Indy will be a three-game road expedition to Anchorage, Alaska where they will be hosted by the Alaska next Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights. All three games will be broadcast live on the Fuel radio home of CBS Sports 1430 with each game broadcast beginning at 11:00 pm EST. Indy does not return home until Friday November 18th when they broach a 4-game home stand in 6-nights when the 2016 Kelly Cup runners-up, the Wheeling Nailers come calling. This game will have a special starting time of 8:00 pm from Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
