Tulsa Oilers News Release
TULSA, OK - Garrett Ladd and Axel Blomqvist's first goals of the season weren't enough to beat a determined Missouri Mavericks team at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena in Independence, Missouri, Saturday.
Missouri opened the scoring 1:18 into the game when forward Sam Povorozniouk scored his second goal of the weekend. Shawn Pauly and Dane Fox had the assists. Tulsa forward Axel Blomqvist scored just over a minute later on a top-shelf shot from the right half boards. The play was assisted by Dennis Brown and Nolan Julseth-White. Dane Fox gave Missouri the lead at the 8:12 mark of the period. Missouri would extend their lead to two thanks to Luke Juha with just under five minutes remaining in the first period.
The Mavericks wasted no time in the second period, scoring 59 seconds into the second period. Tyler Elbrecht scored the unassisted goal. Lukas Lofqusit scored at the 5:08 mark of the period. Dane Fox and Rocco Carzo had the assists. Oilers forward Garrett Ladd scored at the 14:26 mark. Lukas Lofquist followed with his second goal of the game 15:48 into the second period. Christophe Lalancette would extend his point streak to five games when he scored his third goal of the season just 36 seconds later. Lofquist closed the period with a hat trick goal with 24 seconds left in the period.
Kyle Schempp continued the Mavericks trend of early-period goals when he scored 22 seconds into the final frame. Mavericks captain Andrew Courtney would follow with a goal of his own at the 2:05 mark. Reed Seckel scored the final goal of the game with just over 10 minutes remaining in the game.
The Mavericks victory means the teams split their weekend series, with both home teams prevailing.
