ALLEN, TEXAS - Tim Coffman scored twice, and the Alaska Aces scored three times with a two-man power play advantage in a 5-1 blitz of the Allen Americans Sunday afternoon at the Allen Events Center.
With the win, the Aces sweep the two-game series after winning 4-3 Saturday night.
Former American Nolan Descoteaux supplied the first Aces goal at 14:47 of the first period, rifling a screaming shot under the crossbar behind Allen goaltender Jamie Murray on a 5 on 3. Coffman and Peter Sivak assisting.
Then, on a 5 on 4 power play, Daniel Moynihan banged home a rebound to make it 2-0 Alaska at the 15:23 mark.
In the second period, Coffman scored the first of his two-5 on 3 power play goals, snapping a low wrister from the lower left circle past Murray after passes from Descoteaux and Steve Tarasuk.
Allen had little push-back in the game, but did get on the board at 19:19 of the second on Jake Marchment's goal. He swatted a puck out of mid-air in the crease into the net after Alaska goalie Kevin Carr made the initial save of a shot by Gary Steffes.
At 7:20 of the third period, Sivak got one of his own. After Tommy Olczyk got the puck off the boards, he sprung Sivak and Stephen Perfetto on a two on one break, with Perfetto feathering a perfect pass to the right wing where Sivak hammered home a one-timer for a 4-1 Aces lead.
Coffman finished the scoring at 16:14 with another 5 on 3 goal, his 7th goal of the season.
Alaska was dominant on the power play going 4 of 7. Allen was 0 for 7 with the man advantage.
Carr finished with 25 saves for his first win of the season...Murray was saddled with his second consecutive loss to Alaska also making 25 saves.
