Davenport, IA - The Quad Cities River Bandits ran their winning streak to six straight with a 4-2 victory over the South Bend Silver Hawks Thursday evening at Modern Woodmen Park. After leaving 11 runners on base in the series opener Wednesday, South Bend stranded 10 more on the base paths in Thursday's game.

Trailing 2-0, the River Bandits started on the comeback trail in the bottom of the fifth inning against South Bend starter Wade Miley (LP, 0-1). With one out, Roberto Espinoza walked and scored when Jon Edwards doubled to left, cutting the lead in half.

The River Bandits took the lead in the sixth, scoring two more against Miley. Niko Vasquez walked with one out to start the rally, went to second on a wild pitch, and stopped at third on a single from Paul Cruz -- with Cruz taking second when the throw from the outfield went to the plate. Osvaldo Morales singled to center to bring in both Vasquez and Cruz for the 3-2 lead.

Morales added another RBI in the 8th against Bayron Zepeda (ND), giving him 20 on the season and moving him into a tie with Rebel Ridling of Peoria for the Midwest League RBI lead.

South Bend jumped out to an early 1-0 lead by plating a run in the third against Quad Cities starter George Brown (ND). Alfredo Marte doubled to right-center with two outs to start the rally, and scored two batters later when Nelson Gomez singled to center for his ninth RBI of the season.

The Silver Hawks added a run in the fifth when Brendan Duffy tripled against Gary Daley (WP, 2-0) and then scored on a RBI groundout from Alfredo Marte for the 2-0 edge.

The Hawks had the tying run at second in the eighth inning, but reliever Ramon Delgado (ND) pitched out of the jam. Casey Mulligan (SV, 6) set the Hawks down in order in the ninth to earn his sixth save of the year.

The Silver Hawks and River Bandits wrap up the three game series Friday night with an 8:00 PM Eastern Time first pitch. A strong pitching matchup will feature RHP Ryan Cook (2-0, 1.42 ERA) for South Bend and RHP Adam Veres (2-0, 0.82 ERA) for Quad Cities. Pregame coverage begins at 7:40 PM on 1620 AM WPNT "The Point" and online at www.silverhawks.com.
