Idaho Steelheads News Release

BOISE, Idaho¾ The Idaho Steelheads and WestVet Emergency & Specialty Center are asking fans to bring a bag/cans of pet food to donate at the game on Friday, Feb. 20 to help homeless cats and dogs through Northwest Animal Companions. WestVet will have their ambulance set up on the Grove Plaza and will give fans a 2-for-1 coupon to an upcoming Steelheads game for every donation.

In addition, fans may purchase a chew toy at the door to toss on the ice when the Steelheads score their first goal of the game, similar to the Booster Club's Toys for Tots Toss done during Christmas. Petco is donating the chew toys and 100 percent of the money raised will go to help homeless animals.

Another way to help is to purchase a raffle ticket (or ten!) at the game for a chance to win prizes that include a Steelheads hockey stick signed by the team, tickets to future game and a gift basket filled with goodies from WestVet.

"WestVet is proud to sponsor this night to help homeless animals across the Treasure Valley," said Danette Drake, WestVet Marketing and Public Relations Director. "We see first hand every day the care that's needed for these animals and are grateful for the community's support.

If you haven't bought your ticket yet to the Friday, Feb. 20 Steelheads game, purchase through the link below and $4 goes directly to the animals through NAC!

This is the second Pucks for Pets! night at the Steelheads. Last year Steelheads fans donated more than 700 pounds of dog food at the game, over $2,000 was raised from the raffle, and three dogs were adopted out to great homes!

About Northwest Animal Companions Northwest Animal Companions is a 100 percent volunteer-run, 501(c)(3), non-profit animal welfare organization. Last year, NAC spayed and neutered over 1200 cats and dogs and adopted 575 homeless animals to loving homes. 200 acres of land on Bogus Basin Road has been donated to NAC and will soon be a no-kill animal sanctuary named Almost Home.
