
Siddall and Turner Called up to AHL

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that defenseman Brennan Turner and forward Matt Siddall have been recalled to the American Hockey League. Turner was recalled to the Rockford Ice Hogs while Siddall was reassigned by the NHL's Atlanta Thrashers to the Chicago Wolves.
Turner makes his second trip of the season to the AHL as he skated with Rockford in two games on Janaury 20th and 24th. He posted an assist and recorded a -1 rating in his two games this season with Rockford.
The Winnipeg, Manitoba native has played in 44 ECHL games this season, 29 with the Fresno Falcons and 15 with the Gladiators. With Fresno, Turner tallied two goals and two assists while he has added six helpers since the defenseman joined the Gladiators.
Siddall makes his third appearance in the AHL this season after beginning the year with the Chicago Wolves and making his second AHL appearance in December. The North Vancouver native has posted 4 penalty mintues and is even in 8 games this season with the Wolves.
Siddall has appeared in 32 games this season with the Gladiators posting 11 goals and 16 assists for 27 points. He has also notched 2 power play goals and has a -5 rating this season with Gwinnett. Siddall's three game winning goals shares the team lead on the Gladiators in that category this season.
The Gladiators continue the 2008-09 season at the Arena at Gwinnett Center as they host the South Carolina Stingrays on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 7:05 p.m.
Began in 1988-89 with five teams playing in four states, the Premier 'AA' Hockey League has grown into a coast-to-coast league that will have 21 teams in 16 states and British Columbia playing 864 games from Oct. 17, 2008 to Apr. 4, 2009. Eighteen of the 23 teams have played at least five years in their current city.
The third-longest tenured professional hockey league behind only the National Hockey League and the American Hockey League, the ECHL averaged 4,174 per game last season, marking the fourth year in row and the 16th time in the last 18 years that the league has averaged over 4,000 fans. The league has drawn over four million fans each of the last five years and 11 times in the past 12 seasons.
