Atlanta Gladiators News Release
DULUTH, Ga. - The Gwinnett Gladiators announced that they have signed defenseman Zach Sarig (pronounced SAH-rig) to an ECHL contract on Monday. Sarig just completed a four-year career at Plymouth State University in Plymouth, New Hampshire.
Sarig, 24, was named captain of the Panthers for the 2014-15 season, and led the team and all Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference defensemen in points with 27 points (five goals, 22 assists) in 28 games played, a 0.96 PPG average.
Under his guidance, the Panthers won the MASCAC championship for the second time in four years, before getting eliminated by the Norwich University Cadets in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
The 6-foot-3, 220-pound defenseman led PSU blue-liners in scoring for three of his four seasons. In all, the Reading, Pa. native scored 80 points on 25 goals and 55 assists - a 0.84 PPG average.
Sarig will join the Gladiators ahead of their three-game road trip to Orlando, which kicks off with a Thursday night battle with the Solar Bears at 7:00 p.m.
The Gladiators are members of the ECHL, the nation's premier "AA" hockey league, and are affiliated with the Arizona Coyotes of the NHL. All home games are played at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth - where parking is always free.
