Shattock is on Fire
Tyler Shattock has been one of the best players in the ECHL over the last two months.
Shattock has scored 11 goals and added 11 assists in 19 games thus far since February began. Of the 19 games, Shattock has points in 15 of 19 games.
His 51 points this season has obliterated his previous pro high of 20 points that he picked up while playing for the Chicago Wolves of the AHL last season. Shattock also has points in his last four-straight and goals in his last three.
Approaching a New Record
On Saturday, March 14 Garet Hunt scored his 11th goal of the season and notched his 18th point of the year which proved significant.
Hunt pulled into a two-way tie as the Thunder's all-time leading point getter. Mike Lalonde set the mark at 156 points and Hunt is now just one point away from putting himself ahead of every other Thunder player.
The Thunder captain is the only one close to Lalonde's all-time goal record of 72, as Hunt is just 10 goals away from tying that mark.
Fantasy Team and Golden Goalie Jerseys up for Bid
Visit MeiGray.com to bid on the one of a kind Fantasy Team and Golden Goalie Jerseys worn by Garet Hunt and Cody Reichard during Saturday, March 14th's win over the Idaho Steelheads. The auction begins on March 24 and ends April 9.
Making a Debut
After Lucas Gore debuted last week, the Thunder saw defenseman Mike Busillo debut for the Thunder this past Wednesday against the Ontario Reign.
Busillo, who played for the UMass (Amherst) Minutemen, has now played in 4 games for the Thunder and picked up his first pro start and point on Sunday, an assist, on Klarc Wilson's goal. Busillo blocked a number of shots through his first handful of pro games. The defenseman holds a +1 rating as well.
As it turned out the assist was an early birthday gift to the newcomer as Busillo turns 24 today, March 16.
Busillo joins Adam Phillips and Mike Pereira as former UMass players on the Thunder and is the fourth member of the team to play for the Thunder this season as Colin Shea suited up in one game earlier this season.
News and Notes
Jack Combs is second in the ECHL with 69 points behind only his former Allen Americans teammate Chad Costello. Combs' 42 assists is good for fifth in the ECHL. Garet Hunt is tied with Rapid City's Kevin Harvey for 22 major penalties. The Thunder captain ranks fourth in the ECHL with 230 minutes in the sin bin. Lukas Sutter and Klarc Wilson rank second and third in penalty minutes among rookies with 156 and 151 minutes respectively. The Thunder are the second most penalized team in the league (based on average minutes) with 22.32 minutes in the box per game. Allen is the only team averaging more with 23.29. Stockton has played 3 games that have needed extra time, the fewest overtime games in the ECHL. The Thunder have scored the first goal in 28 of 63 contests. The team has the sixth best power-play unit in the league, converting 19.8% of their chances. The Thunder are 13-1-0-0 when leading after two periods. The Thunder have 4 home games and 4 road games remaining this season.
