Providence Falls to Bridgeport on the Road, 3-1

PROVIDENCE, RI - After a crushing 6-1 win last night, the P-Bruins could not close out the home-and-home series against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and suffered a 3-1 loss.

After a scoreless first, Bridgeport jumped out to an quick lead in the second when Verhaeghe scored his first of two goals 1:23 into play. Verhaeghe forced a turnover during he Providence breakout and buried a solo effort to go up 1-0. Bridgeport struck again midway through the period when Jones threw the puck into traffic and found the back of the net.

Verhaege notched his second goal of the night with 5 to play in regulation when he managed to capitalize on a power play situation.

Justin Hickman scored Providence's lone tally of the night 1:17 later. During a scrum in front of the crease resulting in multiple P-Bruins shots, Hickman pulled the puck off of Williams' pads and quickly put it in the back of the net to cut the deficit to 3-1.

Providence pulled the goalie with minutes to play, but 3-1 would remain the final score.

The P-Bruins had four power play advantages over the course of the game, but could not capitalize.

Providence is back home at the Dunk Sunday February 28th against the WBS Penguins.
