Ontario, CA - The Ontario Reign, proud American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL), take on the Texas Stars at tonight 5:00 PT at Cedar Park Center in Cedar Park, Texas. Tonight is the sixth and final regular-season meeting between the two teams this season.
Series Recap:
The Reign hold a 5-0-0-0 head-to-head record against the Stars this season and defeated their Pacific Division rivals last night in overtime, 3-2, at Cedar Park Center. Forward Nic Dowd leads the Reign and all skaters in the series with eight points (one goal, seven assists).
The Captain Paves the Way:
Defenseman Vincent LoVerde scored early in the first period against the Stars last night and buried the game-winning goal moments into overtime for his first two-goal game of the season. The Reign team captain has three goals in the series and the last two game-winning markers (third period goal on 2/19 in 4-1 win).
Former Star Shining Bright:
Forward Sean Backman, who skated with the Stars during the 2010-11 season, recorded a goal and an assist in the Reign's 3-2 overtime win last night and is second among skaters in the series with seven points (two goals, five assists).
Top Teams Collide:
The Reign and Stars currently occupy the top two positions in the Pacific Division with the Reign in front with a .673 winning percentage and the Starts holding a .612 winning percentage.
Horvat Turns 100:
Reign forward Ryan Horvat will skate in his 100th professional game tonight. Through 99 games, the Simcoe, Ontario, native holds 21 points (seven goals, 14 assists) and 165 penalty minutes.
Playoff Preview:
