Prospect Forward Ryan Miller Wins Circle K Classic with South Alberta Hockey Academy
January 3, 2023 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Portland Winterhawks News Release
The Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club would like to congratulate prospect Ryan Miller and South Alberta Hockey Academy (SAHA) on winning the prestigious Circle K Classic Tournament this past Sunday.
SAHA beat the Calgary Buffaloes 6-0 in front of a sold-out Max Bell Centre on Sunday afternoon.
SAHA was the only team in the 32-team field to win all six of its games in the tournament, formerly known as the Mac's U18 AAA Tournament, and became the first team to win back-to-back championships since Shattuck St. Mary's won three straight championships beginning in 1999.
Miller, 15, was called up by the Winterhawks as an affiliate player earlier this season and made his Western Hockey League debut on Dec. 2 against the Victoria Royals. He has appeared in three WHL games this year and was returned to SAHA prior to the holiday break.
Playing his first season with SAHA U18 Prep, Miller has recorded six goals and eight assists to 14 points in 17 games. The 5-foot-10, 150-pound left winger from Medicine Hat, Alta. is set to represent Alberta at the 2023 Canada Winter Games in February.
