PRINCE GEORGE, BC - On Brett Connolly Day, Rogers Sportsnet and Rat Films will be back in Prince George for Opening Night to film the final installment of the show "The Rookies", which will air nationally in March. The Prince George Cougars invite fans to pack CN Centre on Friday, September 18th to show the rest of Canada how passionate the City is about Cougars hockey and help the Cougars kick off the team's 16th Western Hockey League season in BC's Northern Capital.

Festivities will get underway with the annual Cougars Tailgate Party starting at 5:00pm, which runs until puck drop for the Cougars first game of the regular season against the Spokane Chiefs at 7:00pm.

Save On Foods will be selling hot dogs, provided by Maple Leaf Foods, and pop, with all proceeds to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Prince George. Big Brothers Big Sisters will offer face-painting at the event for a donation. The party will also feature the band Andy and Dave, Shriner Clowns will be on hand to entertain the kids and the Drive Girls from 99.3 will be handing out prizes. Northern Health, Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Diabetes Association and Studio 2880 will also be on hand with prizes and games for kids.

Before the game, the first 1,000 fans inside CN Centre will receive a rally towel to wave during the season. There will also be a lights show and pyrotechnics. Many thanks to Maple Leaf Foods for making this happen.

Throughout the game, Cougars fans will have the chance to win some fantastic prizes including his and hers golf clubs courtesy of the Cougars along with prizes from our sponsors, including the Ramada, Shaw, Earls, Predator Paintball, CNC, Esporta, Home Depot, Denny's, Mr. Quick, All-West Glass and Pacific Western Brewing. One lucky fan will take home a grand prize of a night in the Cougars' suite for 11 people.

"We would love to see our fans show the rest of the nation how crazy they are about the Cougars. There will be so many great things for fans to do before the game and we thank all the sponsors for donating wonderful prizes we are giving away during the game," said Cougars Vice President Brandi Brodsky. "With the support of CN Centre and Ticketmaster we have donated tickets to various elementary schools so we encourage fans to pick up their opening night tickets early before the game is sold out."
