
Pride defeat Rapidz, 5-2

(NASHUA, NH) Friday, July 18, 2008 - It was Bode Miller's Night in Nashua. The two-time Alpine Skiing World Cup winner did not factor in the victory going 0 for 2 but certainly inspired his one-day teammates as the Pride defeated the Ottawa Rapidz 5-2 to tie the series at one.
For the second night in a row the Rapidz took an early lead in the first inning. Juan Infante led off with a walk and scored when Jereme Milons grounded into a double play.
The Pride came from behind scoring thrice in the second inning. Ismael Castro doubled to score two runners before being sent home by Luis Rodriguez's single. They added two more runs in the fourth. Castro hit his second double of the night to produce one run and then scored on Vinny Pennell's single.
Infante, Jose de los Santos and Milons all singled after two outs in the eighth to complete the score.
Isaac Burkett (1-2) earned his first win of the season. In six innings he allowed only one earned run, on three hits and four walks, striking out three Rapidz. Tanner Watson (1-3) took the lost pitching 6.2 innings and allowing five earned runs on nine hits and one walk with six strike outs. Andrew Weimer came in the ninth to save his 12th game of the year.
After the game, the Ottawa Rapidz announced that they traded RHP Greg Bunn to the Brockton Rox in exchange for LHP Jacob Ramos.
Ramos appeared in 20 games for the Rox this year. He is 3-2 with a 3.14 ERA in 28.2 innings. He walked 19 batters and struck out 23. Opposing batters hit for .252 against him in the season. Prior to the 2008 season the native of Midland, TX played two seasons in the Detroit Tigers organization going 7-3 with a 4.21 ERA with 26 walks and 34 strike outs in 40.2 innings.
The 5'9" 170-pound bats and throws left. While with the Rox the 25-year old pitched twice against the Rapidz. He showed a 1-0 record along with a 3.38 ERA in 2.2 innings.
Bunn joins Brockton with a 1-2 record in six games. He allowed 20 earned runs in 25.2 innings for a 7.01 ERA. He is currently on the disabled list for the second time this season.
Mike Kusiewicz (2-5, 3.90 ERA) will face Jarrett Stawarz (3-2, 4.13 ERA) in the third game of the series on Saturday, July 19 at 7:05pm.
