(Nashua, N.H., July 18, 2008) Nashua Pride officials have announced today that outfielder Dennis Abreu has been traded to the Brockton Rox in exchange for outfielder Ervin Alcantara.

Alcantara joins Nashua having played in 50 games for Brockton, accumulating a .274 batting average, 4 home runs, and 23 RBI in that time. He is among league leaders in walks with 27 and stolen bases with 15 thus far on the season.

The 6-foot 2-inch native of the Dominican Republic thrives in situations with runners on base, bringing a .321 batting average with runners on base to the Pride line-up, along with a .279 average with runners in scoring position, and a .333 average with runners in scoring position with 2 outs.

While with the Rox, Alcantara batted .407 with 5 doubles, a home run, 9 RBI, and 8 runs scored against the Nashua Pride in 8 games this season.

Abreu joins Brockton with a .335 batting average, 7 home runs, and 26 RBI in 50 games with Nashua. Abreu currently owns an 18 game hitting streak, which matches the Can-Am League season high.
