
Preseason games to help local groups, charities

BRIDGEPORT, CT - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have announced that several local groups and charities will benefit from the team's two preseason games at The Rinks at Shelton this Saturday and Monday.
Proceeds from ticket sales for this Saturday's 7 p.m. preseason game between the Sound Tigers and Albany River Rats will benefit the Greater Bridgeport Youth Hockey Association.
During this coming Monday's 7:30 p.m. preseason game between the Sound Tigers and the Hartford Wolf Pack, Junior Achievement of Western Connecticut will be selling paper bowling pins to raise money for its 20th-annual "Bowl For Kids" bowl-a-thon. There will also be intermission activities during Monday's game to benefit the Red Cross, the Sara Taccone Foundation for the Arts and the Cheyenne Marietta Seymour Memorial Fund.
The Sara Taccone Foundation for the Arts honors Sara Michele Taccone who was fatally injured in a car accident in the summer of 2003 when she was 16. The Cheyenne Marietta Seymour Memorial Fund honors Cheyenne Seymour who passed away in a car accident this summer at the age of 18. Middlebrook Elementary School fifth graders are selling tickets to Monday's game to help raise funds for the causes that honor Taccone and Seymour who were both from Trumbull.

Celebrating their fifth anniversary in Bridgeport as the top affiliate of the Islanders, the Sound Tigers will open the 2005-06 regular season with the first of four straight road games when they visit the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Wednesday, October 5th. Their first home games at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard will be Saturday and Sunday, October 22nd and 23rd when they host the Portland Pirates and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Sound Tigers 2005-06 season tickets and partial plans are on-sale now at savings of up to 25% off box-office costs with most seats available at lower prices than last year. Information regarding Sound Tigers tickets is available by calling 203-334-GOAL or logging on to www.soundtigers.com.
