
Power Win Fourth Straight

Charleston, WV (August 13, 2007) - The West Virginia Power used a four-run second inning to win their fourth game in a row as they took the second game of the series, defeating the Riverdogs 8-4 on Monday night at Appalachian Power Park.
For the second night in a row, the Riverdogs took the early lead. With two outs in the second inning, Luis Nunez ripped an RBI single and Mitch Hilligoss smacked an RBI double. Steve Chapman tied the game in the bottom of the second with a two-run double. Andy Bouchie's run scoring single gave the Power the lead later in the inning and Andrew Lefave walked with the bases loaded to complete the four-run frame. The Riverdogs plated a pair of runs in the third to tie it up at 4-4. Joe Muich's sacrifice fly scored Kevin Smith and Chase Odenreider scored on Taylor Green's fielding error.
The Power took the lead for good in the third inning on Kenny Holmberg's two-run homer. It was his 14th of the year, and his third of the homestand. Matt LaPorta smacked a two-out RBI double in the fourth inning and the Power scored their final run in the fifth inning when Andy Bouchie's groundout plated Holmberg.
J.T. King (7-2) tossed four scoreless innings of relief to get the win and Paul Patterson (1-1) was tagged with the loss after surrendering seven runs on eight hits over three and two thirds.
The Power improved to 72-46 overall and 24-27 in the second half, while the Riverdogs fell to 66-54 overall and 29-21 in the second half. Matt LaPorta, Kenny Holmberg and Steve Chapman had two hits each for the Power.
The Power will continue the series with the Charleston Riverdogs at Appalachian Power Park on Tuesday night. The Power will start right hander Alex Periard (5-6, 3.44) and the Riverdogs will counter with right hander Grant Duff (11-8, 4.18). The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
