Hickory, NC-The Hickory Crawdads lost to the Columbus Catfish, 5-2, on Monday at L.P. Frans Stadium. The loss snapped Hickory's 7-game win streak.
Ryan Royster gave Columbus a 1-0 lead on his league-leading 25th HR of the season in the 2nd off Dustin Craig.
Royster extended Columbus's lead with an RBI single in the 3rd. Royster scored his second run on Seth Dhaenens's RBI double, which put the Catfish up 3-0.
Hickory got on the board in the bottom of the 3rd, on an RBI single by Eddie Prasch that scored Kent Sakamoto.
After Columbus made it 4-1 in the 5th, Hickory scored its 2nd run on an RBI double stroked to right by Bobby Kingsbury. However, that was it for the Crawdads scoring. Columbus added a run in the 8th and won 5-2. Heath Rollins allowed 0 ER in 5 IP and picked up the win to improve to 14-4. Neil Frontz notched the save, his 16th. Dustin Craig allowed 3 ER on 9 H in 5 IP and suffered the loss to drop to 3-3.
The Crawdads continue their 4 game series at home against Columbus tomorrow night at 7:00. Bradley Clapp is scheduled to start for Hickory. All games can be heard live on WMNC 92.1 FM.
