LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The Lakewood BlueClaws are pleased to announce that Hockey Night, this year on August 18th, will feature New Jersey Devils center Jim Dowd of Brick, and the 2007 #2 overall selection in the NHL Entry Draft, James vanRiemsdyk of Middletown.

On Hockey Night, presented by Consignment Sports, both players will be signing autographs for fans and one lucky fan will win an authentic Jim Dowd autographed jersey.

"This is sure to be a very exciting evening," said BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown. "It's always outstanding getting local athletes who play at the highest level coming home for a night at the ballpark."

Dowd played his first NHL game during the 1991- 1992 season and was part of the 1995 Devils Stanley Cup Championship team. He played at Brick High School, graduating in 1987.

The Flyers selected vanRiemsdyk 2nd overall this past June. He previously played for Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft.

Additionally, there will be a speed slapshot set up, fans will have the chance to watch famous NHL games and play NHL video games at different spots around the ballpark.

The 2006 South Atlantic League Champion BlueClaws continue to have the most affordable ticket for Professional Baseball in New Jersey. Having led the South Atlantic League in attendance each year of operation, they recently added their 3-millionth fan, becoming the fastest team in league and New Jersey history to do so.
