Charleston Dirty Birds News Release
HIGHLIGHTS: Sunday afternoon's scheduled game between the West Virginia Power and Lakewood BlueClaws has been canceled due to unplayable grounds at Appalachian Power Park. Rain fell early Sunday afternoon and the umpires deemed the ground unsafe for game activity. This game was slated to be the final game for each team during the first half of the 2011 season and will not be rescheduled.
West Virginia will have three days off for the South Atlantic League All-Star break and will begin the second half of the season on Thursday, June 23, at Hickory. Dan Grovatt, Brandon Cumpton, and Jameson Taillon will represent the Power in the mid-summer classic and rejoin the team in time for the trip to play the Crawdads.
West Virginia's next homestand begins on Monday, June 27, against the Lexington Legends at Appalachian Power Park, and will continue through July 3 against the Greensboro GrassHoppers.
