Shorebirds Fall 11-4 in First Half Finale

Hagerstown, Md. - The Hagerstown Suns plated eleven unanswered runs to rout the Delmarva Shorebirds 11-4 at Municipal Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Shorebirds ended the first half of the season with a 35-35 record.

The Shorebirds took an early lead in the first inning. Ty Kelly, who went 4-for-5, led off with a single. After a Manny Machado walk, Mike Flacco hit a single into center field to give the Shorebirds a 1-0 lead. Later in the frame, Michael Ohlman hit a sacrifice fly RBI to center to plate Machado.

The lead was short-lived for the Shorebirds. Hagerstown plated two runs in the third on a sacrifice fly RBI by Wade Moore and a single by Jason Martinson.

In the fourth, the Suns exploded for five runs on six hits that included a two-run double by Michael Taylor.

The Suns added two home runs. In the fifth inning, Kevin Keyes hit his third homer of the series and in the seventh, Wade Moore hit a two-run homer.

The Shorebirds plated two runs in the ninth inning on a double to the left-center field gap by Kelly.

Relief pitcher Ben Graham earned the win while Shorebirds starter Scott Copeland was pinned with the loss.
