Charleston Dirty Birds News Release
(Charleston, WV- August 26, 2014)- The West Virginia Power toppled the Lexington Legends 8-2 on Tuesday evening at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. West Virginia raced out to the early advantage, scoring all eight runs in the first four innings for the win.
West Virginia posted two runs in the first on a Reese McGuire two-RBI single. McGuire added another RBI base knock along with RBI doubles from Maximo Rivera and Jeff Roy in a four-run third inning.
Lexington posted a run in the bottom half when Mauricio Ramos blasted a solo home run. The Power tacked on two more in the fourth with a two-RBI single off the bat of Erich Weiss to pull away.
Cody Dickson (7-9) earned the win while allowing just one run over five innings with eight strikeouts. Matt Alvarez (5-7) was charged with the loss. Reese McGuire posted a three-hit performance with three runs batted in to extend his hit streak to six games.
West Virginia visits the Lexington Legends on Wednesday, August 27, at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Dovydas Neverauskas will start against the Legends Niklas Stephenson.
