Charleston Dirty Birds News Release
Charleston, WV - August 26, 2014 - The West Virginia Power, a South Atlantic League affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, have announced their 2015 regular season schedule. The campaign is slated to begin on April 9 with a seven game homestand at Appalachian Power Park.
West Virginia opens with Savannah and Hagerstown during the first week of the new season. The Power will also host the Lexington Legends in April with Kannapolis, Charleston (SC) and Delmarva visiting in May. West Virginia is slated for 18 home games in June with Greensboro, Savannah, Augusta and Hickory all welcomed to the city. The club will close the first half and open the second half at home, a rarity in any South Atlantic League season.
The Power are home on July 4 to start a four-game series against the Delmarva Shorbirds. Hagerstown, Lexington and the Lakewood BlueClaws complete the July schedule. In August and September, West Virginia will also host Greenville for the first time during the 2015 season as well as additional home series against the Shorebirds, BlueClaws and Legends.
Of the Power's 70 road games, key series will be played at each Northern Division opponent's home park during the first half of the season. Of the 35 road games to be played during the first half of the 2015 season, only 11 will be against Southern Division opponents. The Power will also only play 11 road games in the second half against competition from the Southern Division.
The West Virginia Power conclude their home schedule on September 2 and close the 2015 regular season with a five game series in Kannapolis. All dates are subject to change and game times will be determined during the off-season.
