
Power roster receives a facelift

CHARLESTON, WV (July 30, 2005) - The West Virginia Power, Class A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers have made a few changes to their roster.
Today, outfielders Brendan Katin and Charlie Fermaint, catcher Angel Salome and left-handed pitcher Derek Miller all joined the West Virginia Power after spending a few weeks with the Helena Brewers. To make room for the new players, left handed pitcher Steve Hammond was promoted to High-A Brevard County of the Florida State League and catcher Clay Blevins, a long with outfielders Adam Mannon and Freddy Parejo have been sent to Helena.
With Helena, Derek Miller went 1-1 with a 2.75 ERA and a save in 9 appearances. Charlie Fermaint hit .361 with 12 homeruns and 32 RBI over 31 games and Angel Salome hit .419 with 8 homeruns, driving in 50 runs over 36 games. Katin, who played with current Power third baseman Ryan Braun at the University of Miami, hit .386 in 33 games with 8 homeruns and 26 RBI while in Helena.
Before his promotion, Steve Hammond went 3-0 with a 2.45 ERA with the Power. Adam Mannon hit .151 with 4 homeruns over 42 games. Clay Blevins hit .200 on the season and had 20 walks over 42 games. Freddy Parejo hit .231 and had 16 stolen bases in 82 games.
Tonight the Power will lock horns with the Hickory Crawdads in the third game of a four game series. The Power will throw right-handed pitcher Eric Thomas (0-0, 3.12) and the Crawdads will counter with right-handed pitcher Romulo Sanchez (2-0, 1.20). The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
