Charleston was led by second baseman Mario Holmann's three hits, and he got support from Edwar Gonzalez, Hector Made and Estee Harris, who each collected a pair of hits.
The GreenJackets plated two runs in the first inning when Charleston starter Christian Garcia, facing Klink with the bases loaded, fielded a come-backer to the mound and overthrew his first baseman Gonzalez. Garcia, who suffered the loss which dropped his record to 4-5, was making his return to the RiverDogs having been absent since June 13.
Charleston came back with a run in the fourth on Gonzalez's RBI double which scored Holmann, who had singled and then stole second base.
With the 2-1 lead, the GreenJackets scored two runs in the fifth off of Marvin Moscat on a RBI single by Carlos Sosa and a run-scoring single by Klink. Augusta added another run in the sixth, making the score 5-1, on Haines' RBI single.

Augusta added three more runs in the seventh, with the first coming when catcher Steve Holm drew a bases-loaded walk from Kevin Rival, and then Hornostaj singled home two runs. All three runs were charged to Shaun Parker, who failed to retire any of the three batters he faced in the inning.
The RiverDogs got one of the runs back in the seventh when Ryan Haag scored on a throwing error by center fielder Alex Requena.
Game Two of the four-game series is slated for Sunday at 4:05 p.m. when Jeff Marquez (6-11) toes the rubber for Charleston. Augusta counters with lefty Jonathan Sanchez (4-5).
