Travis Denker Promoted

Columbus Catfish News Release


2B Travis Denker was the Catfish's lone position player at the All-Star Game and has been one of the league's best hitters, and was promoted to the High-A Vero Beach Dodgers following last night's game. Denker reached base in 51 of his last 103 plate appearances with the Fish including 9 HR in his last 83 AB. He led the SAL in BB with 67 this season, was fourth with 21 HR, and was second with a .417 OBP. Denker finished with a .310 batting average, 68 RBI, and a .556 SLG. He hit 14 HR since June 11th. Denker was also the only Catfish player to play in each game. Replacing Denker on the Catfish roster will be 2B Justin Crist, the Dodgers 38th Rounder in 2004 who was hitting .232 with 1 HR and 7 RBI with Ogden prior to his promotion.

The Catfish begin a four-game series with the Greenville Bombers (Boston Red Sox) at 7:05 PM in Greenville tonight. The Fish return home for a four-game series with Savannah on Thursday, August 4th at 7:00 PM.
