Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
Kannapolis, NC - The Intimidators got a pair of strong pitching performances and mother nature slammed the door shut in an I's sweep of the Saturday double header with Hagerstown at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. Jack Egbert struck out eight in a complete game shutout 3-0 victory in game one. Boomer Berry and Donny Lucy had RBI sac flies to provide the run support. David Cook had a strong return with two hits in three plate appearances.
Ricky Brooks picked up his first professional win with five innings of one run, five strikeout baseball in a 4-1 victory which was stopped after five inning because of intense thunderstorms and heavy rains. Cook's solo home run to straight away center field got the I's offense started in the second. Adam Ricks scored on an RBI groundout by Chris Getz in the third. The I's added two more in the fifth on RBI doubles by Jose De Los Santos and Berry.
With the wins Kannapolis moves to 21-12 on the year, four games ahead of Columbus in the Southern Division standings. K-town and Hagerstown are scheduled to take the field Sunday afternoon for another double header starting at 3:05. RHP Garry Bakker (2-3 4.97) will start game one. A spot starter will begin game two.
