Charleston Dirty Birds News Release
(Charleston, WV)- The West Virginia Power fell for the fourth straight game on Thursday night at Appalachian Power Park to the Hagerstown Suns, 7-5. The Power put together a four-run fifth to climb back into the game after falling down early, but could not get any closer.
The Suns put two on the board in the first inning on an RBI single from Drew Ward and three Power errors. Rafael Bautista added to the lead with a solo blast in the second before West Virginia got on the board with one in the third on an Edwin Espinal RBI groundout.
Hagerstown tallied three more in the fourth when Ward plated two more with a double and a wild pitch scored another. The Suns padded their lead with a solo homer in the fifth from Craig Manuel.
The Power, however, would not let up down by six. West Virginia scored four times in the fifth with RBI base knocks from Erich Weiss and Francisco Diaz as well as an RBI double off the bat of Danny Collins.
Power starter Cody Dickson (2-2) was charged with the loss while Suns hurler Dixon Anderson (3-0) earned the win and John Simms (3) picked up the save. Erich Weiss extended his 18-game on base streak with a 2-for-3 performance with an RBI and JaCoby Jones went 3-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and a double.
West Virginia hosts the Hagerstown Suns on Friday, April 25, at Appalachian Power Park. Justin Topa will take the hill for the Power against the Suns Jake Johansen. For tickets or more information, call 304-344-2287 or visit www.wvpower.com.
