The Power took game one 3-2 thanks to a two run third and a Francisco Diaz sacrifice fly that drove in Dan Gamache in the bottom of the sixth . Robby Rowland earned his ninth win and Nathan Kilcrease picked 15th save. The Shorebirds won game two 7-2 on the strength of a six run third inning against Zac Fuesser. West Virginia's only runs were plated by an Ashley Ponce double in the fifth inning.

LET'S PLAY TWO: The Power went 7-7 on doubleheader days this season. West Virginia swept one twinbill this season, split four, and were gotten swept once (Wednesday/ Thursday at Charleston).

HONORED: Gregory Polanco and Alen Hanson were honored by the South Atlantic League on the 2012 Annual All-Star Team. Polanco was named as the league's Most Outstanding Major League Prospect and All-Star Outfielder while Hanson was honored as the league All-Star at shortstop. They are the tenth and 11th Power players to be selected as Annual All-Stars and the first since 2009. Polanco joins Rudy Owens (2009 Pitcher of the Year) as the only two West Virginia players to be selected for any of the SAL's top three awards.

FINALE SERIES OF 2012: Delmarva leads the all-time series 53-52, but the Power still have the edge at Appalachian Power Park, having won 33 and lost 28 at home since 2005. The Shorebirds have won nine of 15 so far in 2012 and clinched the season series.

SAVING THE GAME: Nathan Kilcrease earned his 15th save of the season in game one on Sunday to set a new Power record for saves in a single season. Kilcrease tied Robert Hinton's 2005 record of 14 on Friday evening in the West Virginia win against Delmarva.

CHASING HISTORY: Alen Hanson has the chance to set several new Power records:

*

Triples: Current record holder: Andy Vasquez with 13 2012 leader: Alen Hanson with 13 *

Runs: Current record holder: Chuck Caufield with 100 2012 leader: Alen Hanson with 99

TAKE TWO: Dan Gamache doubled twice on Friday to tie and subsequently pass Caleb Gindl for the Power's single season doubles record. Gindl knocked 38 two-base hits during the 2008 season, and several players have gotten within striking distance during the Pirates affiliation. Gamache's second inning double matched the record. The Power second baseman's leadoff double in the seventh set the new mark.

END OF THE ROAD: West Virginia concluded its 2012 road schedule on Thursday with a win. The Power went 7-29 on the road in the first half of the season, but have gone 19-16 away from home in the second half. The 26 total road victories is a new club record low for a full season, one less that the 27 by the inaugural 2005 team. The 2012 edition also lost more road games in a single season than any other team in Power history, though the team did play 71 road games this season rather than 70 due to an April rainout that was made up at Asheville.

POWER POINTS: Nick Kingham's nine strikeouts on Friday were the most by a West Virginia pitcher in a single game this season. Zack Dodson, Robby Rowland, and Zac Fuesser had each recorded a previous high of eight strikeouts in a game this year with the later accomplishing the feat twice... Alen Hanson's triple on Thursday was his 13th of the season, matching Andy Vasquez's Charleston SAL record set in 2011.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh lost 12-8 at Milwaukee... Indianapolis beat Louisville 11-6. Ramon Cabrera went 2-5 in his Triple-A debut... Altoona beat Erie 8-1... Bradenton fell 3-1 to at St. Lucie in their final game of the season... State College lost 9-6 to Williamsport.
