Power Top Shorebirds 4-1 in Season Finale

Charleston, WV - The West Virginia Power scored four unanswered runs between the fifth and eighth innings to top the Delmarva Shorebirds 4-1 at Appalachian Power Park on Monday afternoon. The Shorebirds end the season with a 52-86 record. Zack Von Rosenberg tossed a nine inning complete game for the Power. The Shorebirds managed just three total hits.

The Shorebirds struck first in the first inning on a solo homer by Roderick Bernadina, his second of the season, to deep left field to give the Shorebirds a 1-0 lead.

The Power went scoreless over the first four innings before tying the game in the fifth inning on a home run to right field by Alex Fuseliar.

In the sixth inning, the Power took the lead with two runs. Dan Gamache and Chris Lashmet hit back-to-back RBI singles to put the Power in front 3-1.

The Power stretched the lead to 4-1 in the eighth inning on a home run by Eric Avila to center field.

Shorebirds starter Eric Wooten went six strong innings, but was pinned with the loss. He allowed seven hits and three runs. Wooten struck out three and did not walk a batter. Further, he never faced a three ball count over six innings.

Cameron Coffey made his debut for the Shorebirds in relief. Over two innings, he allowed two hits and one run.

The Shorebirds went hitless between the third and eighth innings.

West Virginia starter Zach Von Rosenberg earned the win over nine innings. He allowed two hits and one run. Von Rosenberg retired 22 of the final 23 hitters faced.
