Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release
LAKEWOOD, NJ - Drawing 410,113 fans to FirstEnergy Park this year, the BlueClaws have once again topped the South Atlantic League in attendance, as they have now done in all 12 years of existence.
This brings the 12 year total to 5,248,736 fans.
In June, the BlueClaws welcomed their 5-millionth fan to the ballpark, 7-year old Justin Singer of Freehold. The BlueClaws became the fastest team in New Jersey and South Atlantic League history to reach the 5-millionth fan plateau.
All told in 2012, the BlueClaws welcomed 11 sell-out crowds of 8,000 fans, 25 crowds that exceeded the reserve seat capacity of 6,588, and a total of 33 crowds of at least 6,000 fans.
"Leading our league in attendance for 12 straight years is something that we are extremely proud of," said BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown, who has been with the team since their 2001 inception. "It's a great source of pride for us and our fans and shows that the BlueClaws are supported by some of the best fans in all of Minor League Baseball."
Among the highlights of the year were four straight sell-out crowds of 8,000 fans from June 14-17 ending on Father's Day.
Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard played three rehab games with the BlueClaws from June 28-30 that drew a combined 22,836 fans and included two sellout crowds.
"We had a great year and thank our fans for all of their support," said Brown. "We're already off to a great start in 2013 and can't wait for April 4th."
2013 will include the South Atlantic League All-Star Game at FirstEnergy Park, presented by Kimball and Community Medical Centers, OceanFirst Bank, and Shore Point Distributing Company.
Tickets for the June 18th All-Star Game and June 17th Celebrity Hitting Challenge are now on sale through 2013 BlueClaws ticket packages. The team has also released the 2013 BlueClaws schedule.
