POWER REPLAY: West Virginia lost 3-1 to Charleston on Frdiay in front of the second largest crowd of the season at Appalachian Power Park. Dan Grovatt hit a solo home run in the second, he second in as many games, and the lead stuck until the sixth inning. The RiverDogs tied the game in the sixth and plated two in the eighth for the victory. Zack Von Rosenberg pitched five shutout innings, but did not factor in the decision.

MATCHED AT 10: Mel Rojas Jr. extended his hitting streak to ten games with a single in the seventh innings last night, matching Dan Grovatt's ten game streak as the longest of the season by any Power player. Rojas has 12 hits over 43 at bats during his streak for a .279 clip. Grovatt his .325 during his streak, which spanned the end of July to the first weekend of this month.

BLACK OUT: Victor Black was promoted to Bradenton earlier today by the Pittsburgh Pirates. The right-hander, a supplemental first round pick in 2009, was 2-1 with a 5.28 ERA for the Power this season over 22 appearances, including a 14 inning scoreless streak to begin his 2011 SAL season. Justin Ennis was activated from the Temporary Inactive List and will fill Black's spot on the roster.

RECORD HIGH OF ZEROS: West Virginia pitchers worked their 11th shutout of the season Thursday night to set a new club record, surpassing the efforts of the 2006 club while the Power were still affiliated with Milwaukee. Since the association with the Pirates began in 2009, the Power have pitched 26 shutouts over two plus years, compared to 29 during the four-year Brewer stint.

WALK OF LIFE: West Virginia's pitching staff continues to lead all of baseball with the fewest number of batters walked this year. Power pitchers have combined to walk 271 batters through 115 games. The lowest team total in club history is 346 during the 2010 season, while the league's record low over a 140 game season is 314 by Augusta in 2001. The staff is currently on pace to finish the season with 325 walks issued.

CHARLIE SOUTH IN TOWN: West Virginia concludes it final series this year against the Charleston RiverDogs at 7:05 tonight. The clubs have played 14 games this season after having only met a total of four times in 2010. West Virginia leads the all-time set 19-15, and the Power have a 9-5 lead at Appalachian Power Park. The New York Yankees SAL affiliate from South Carolina is in Charleston, WV for the second time this season after having not played in West Virginia since 2009.

SNAPPED: Drew Maggi had his 22 game on-base streak stopped with an 0-3 performance Thursday. Maggi matched Matt Curry for the longest on-base streak by a Power player this season. The longest by any SAL player this year was 36 by Bryce Massanari to open the 2011 season.

VERGE OF HISTORY: Rogelio Noris has 24 career home runs for West Virginia over nearly two seasons in a Power jersey. Noris has matched Stephen Chapman for the most home runs in any player's Power career. Chapman hit a single-season record 24 home runs in a Power uniform in 2007. Noris, however, has not hit a home run since July 15, a span of 15 games and 60 at bats.

POWER POINTS: Andy Vasquez had his seven game hitting streak stopped last night by going 0-4... Jameson Taillon has surrendered nine home runs this season, two of which have come at home.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh fell 7-2 at Milwaukee... Indianapolis slipped past Louisville 3-2... Altoona shutout Reading 7-0. Aaron Pribanic earned the win with seven scoreless frames.. Bradenton beat Jupiter 5-2... State College lost 4-1 to Connecticut.
