TONIGHT'S MATCHUP

RH Jameson Taillon (1-1, 3.10) vs. RH Mike Foltynewicz (2-6, 4.77)

Taillon: Allowed 1 R on 2 H with 0 BB and 4 K over 5.0 IP in 5/29 ND vs. HIC (4-3 Crawdads)

Foltynewicz: Allowed 0 R on 3 H with 2 BB and 5 K over 6.0 IP in 5/29 ND @ GBO (4-1 LEX)

POWER REPLAY: West Virginia dropped a 3-1 final at Lexington. The Power took a 1-0 lead at the outset of the game when Drew Maggi led off the night with a solo home run. The Legends tied the game in the sixth with a solo home run of their own, and took the lead in the bottom of the eighth on a two-run shot by Mike Kvasnicka. Porfirio Lopez surrendered the late home run and took this loss.

LOPEZ BACK: Porfirio Lopez was added to the Power roster prior to Thursday's game at Lexington and pitched last night. Lopez went 0-0 in two appearances for West Virginia prior to beingtransferred to the State College roster on Saturday after the 19 inning games at Delmarva on May 27. To make room for Lopez, Pittsburgh shifted Vincent Payne off the Power roster and sent the right-hander to the Extended Spring Training roster. Payne appeared in one game, going two scoreless innings on Tuesday against Hickory.

FSL ALL-STARS: Five former Power players were named to the 2011 Florida State League South Divison All-Star squad on Thursday. Kyle McPherson, Brett Lorin, Ramon Cabrera, Jarek Cunningham, and Aaron Baker will represent the Bradenton Marauders in the mid-season classic, to be played one June 18 at Clearwater. Cabrera and Baker were also named All-Stars in 2010 while playing for West Virginia.

POWER V LEGENDS: West Virginia has played Lexington more than any other team dating back to the 2005 season. The Power lead the all-time series 64-59 and have the edge at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in Lexington, winning 37 of 64 games. The Legends, however, hold a 32-27 mark at Appalachian Power Park. West Virginia took two out of three in Lexington two weeks ago.

WHITE TO THE DL: The Pittsburgh Pirates placed Cole White on the disabled list earlier today, retroactive to June 1. White appeared in one game for the Power on May 31, going 1-2 before leaving with an injury sustained while running out a single. To replace White on the active roster, Pittsburgh promoted Chase Lyles from Extended Spring. Lyles was selected in the 32nd round of the 2010 draft from Northwestern State (LA) University, and played in 55 games for State College last season.

STREAKING STARS: Mel Rojas Jr. and Drew Maggi each extended their hitting streaks last night reaching eight and seven games respectively. Rojas Jr. is batting .278 with ten hits over 36 at bats during his last eight games, while Maggi has eight hits over 28 at bats (.286) during his last seven games.

PINPOINT CONTROL: West Virginia pitchers have combined to walk just 107 batters this season, the fewest in the SAL. Power pitchers have also walked the fewest batters in all of professional baseball.

POWER POINTS: The Power will make up the May 3 rainout against Greensboro on June 14 at 5:30 pm as part of a doubleheader... Tuesday's game was played in front of 5,570 fans, the largest crowd of the season at Appalachian Power Park... Dan Grovatt's seven game hitting streak was stopped last night with an 0-3 performance... Victor Black has not allowed a base hit in any of his first three appearnces so far this season, and has only allowed on base runner (a walk last night).

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: The Pirates lost 9-8 to the Mets in New York... Indianapolis beat up Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre 13-2... Altoona beat Trenton 5-1. Matt Curry had two hits, including his first home run for the Curve... Bradenton beat Brevard County 5-2.
