Award to Honor Officer Jason Marles Presented at June 11th Game

LAKEWOOD, NJ - The inaugural Fallen Officer Jason Marles #271 DWI Award will be presented to an Ocean County Police Officer at the Lakewood BlueClaws Law Enforcement Night game on Saturday June 11th.

This award will honor Officer Marles' memory and the hard work of an Ocean County Officer who demonstrates a strong commitment towards the effort of stopping Drunk Driving in Ocean County.

The game against the West Virginia Power starts at 7:05 with an on-field presentation to begin at approximately 6:40 pm.

Ocean Gate Officer Jason Marles was tragically killed by an alleged drunk driver on the Garden State Parkway in the early morning hours of November 25, 2010. He is survived by his two young children and his family.

Officer Marles had just completed a DWI enforcement grant and was on his way home still in uniform.

Officers who were nominated will be given recognition during the ceremony and a certificate of nomination. The winning officer will be receiving a plaque and throw out the first pitch of the game, along with Jason's two children.

In addition the Ocean County Traffic Officer's Association will be presenting a check to PBA #352, for the Children of Jason Marles College Fund.

The game also includes an autograph signing from professional wrestlers The Iron Sheik and Nickolai Volkoffs.
