POWER REPLAY: West Virginia dropped the series finale to Asheville 4-2 Thursday night. The Tourists plated four runs in the top of the fifth against Power reliever Trent Stevenson, and West Virginia could not overcome the deficit. The Power scored runs in the bottom of the fifth and seventh innings on passed balls, and loaded the bases with no one out in the ninth. After a strikeout, the Tourists nearly turned a double play to end the game. Dan Grovatt was retired on second on a fielder's choice and called for interference which ended the game.

DON'T LET IT HIT YA: West Virginia and Asheville concluded their season series last night in Charleston. The Tourists took three out of four during the set and improved their all-time series edge to 30-23, including an 18-12 mark at Appalachian Power Park.

ON THE ROAD: West Virginia starts its first road trip of 2011 tonight in August at 7:35 pm. The Power open a four-game set against the GreenJackets this evening, and start a five game series in Kannapolis on Tuesday. West Virginia's next homestand starts on April 25 with five games against Bryce Harper's Hagerstown Suns and concludes with a four game series against Greensboro. The Power went 31-39 on the road during the 2010 season.

HISTORY IS IN THE PAST: West Virginia teams have gotten off to rough starts in five of their six previous seasons, regardless of affiliation. Power clubs were 5-13 combined during their first series of each season from 2005 though 2010, and began this year with a 2-1 series win against Savannah.

MASTERS OF AUGUSTA: Augusta leads the all-time set between the Power with a 20-12 record since 2005, and have been dominant at home, winning 15 times in 20 opportunities. West Virginia went 1-3 in 2010, were swept in 2009, won once in 2008, split the series in 2007 at two wins apiece, won once in 2006, and did not play there in 2005.

BACK FOR MORE: Rogelio Noris hit 15 home runs for West Virginia during the 2010 season and enters the year eighth all-time in Power history in the category. Stephen Chapman holds the single-season record with 24, which is also the most by any player during his stint with West Virginia. Noris is two behind Andrew LaFave's 17 for seventh all-time and four away from moving into the top five.

ROSTER RUNDOWN: The 2011 Power roster features 16 players drafted by Pittsburgh within the last two years, four players who saw South Atlantic League action in 2010 with the Power, and four ranked within Baseball America's top 25 for the entire Pirates organization. Rogelio Noris, Zach Foster, Jairo Marquez, and Andy Vasquez all saw action in 2010 with the Power. Zack Von Rosenberg rates ninth followed by Colton Cain (13), Zach Dodson (18), and Mel Rojas Jr. (23).

POWER POINTS: West Virginia plays 14 home games during April and nine on the road. The Power went 9-12 during April of 2010, hit .239, and held a staff ERA of 3.80... Rogelio Noris and Kawika Emsley-Pai are the only players who have not reached on a base hit this season... Kevin Decker leads all Power relief pitchers with six innings pitched this season split between two relief appearances.
