The Asheville Tourists scored a run in the bottom of the fifth inning and won a rain-shortened game over the Lexington Legends 2-1 in Asheville Friday night.

The Legends took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning on a home run by Adam Bailey, his second of the year.

Asheville answered with a run in the bottom of the third. Helder Velazquez singled, Kyle Parker walked, and Bryce Massanari reached on an error by Lexington third baseman Mike Kvasnicka to load the bases. Brett Tanos' sacrifice fly brought in the tying run.

Rain fell steadily from the second inning on, and in the bottom of the fifth with conditions deteriorating, the Tourists scored the tie-breaking run. With one out, Velazquez doubled, Parker singled him to third and Massanari was hit by a pitch. After Alex Sogard relieved starter Brad Dydalewicz for Lexington, Tanos hit into a fielder's choice as the tie-breaking run scored. Corey Dickerson grounded out to end the inning, and play was stopped before the sixth inning began. After a 49-minute delay, the game was called.

Reliever Kraig Sitton (1-0), who replaced starter Ricardo Ferrer with two outs in the top of the fifth inning, got the win. Dydalewicz (0-1) , who gave up five hits and one earned run in four and one-third innings, took the loss.

The series continues Saturday night. Game time is 6:05 p.m. at McCormick Field.
