Hagerstown, MD-The Hagerstown Suns (6-3) were downed by the Lakewood BlueClaws (4-4) in the 2011 home opener at Municipal Stadium by a score of 8-4. Lakewood RHP Dave Buchanan (1-0), the winning pitcher, was solid on the mound, going 5.2 IP and allowing four runs, two of them earned on four hits, while walking three and fanning four. The second run scored on a Geancarlo Mendez RBI to left field, bringing in Zach Collier, who singled.

The BlueClaws would score two more runs in the third frame as Torre Langley wrapped an RBI double to right field, bringing home Jim Murphy and Anthony Hewitt, who both walked. Hagerstown RHP Chris McKenzie (1-1), the losing pitcher, was shelled in the lost, as he allowed five earned runs on seven hits in 3.1 IP, while walking a season-high six.

Lakewood added three more runs in the top of the sixth inning when 3B Blake Kelso made a three-base throwing error, allowing Duran and Miguel Alvarez to score.

The Suns runs came to fruition on a pair of error by the SS Duran and 2B Jeremy Barnes in the fourth inning and also after a 2 RBI single by 3B Blake Kelso.

Suns RF Bryce Harper made his home debut with the Suns at the revamped Municipal Stadium and went 0-for-3, with a base-on-balls. The Suns sold out Municipal Stadium and hosted one of the largest crowds in the last decade, with announced attendance at 6,017 people.
